Ayurveda, Sanskrit for the "science of life," is India's 5000 year old medical system. It is commonly referred to as Yoga's sister science, as both are rooted in the ancient Vedic tradition. Yoga teaches us how to balance our mind, while Ayurveda teaches us how to balance our body through the use of food, herbs, and living in harmony with nature. The latter is most important during times of seasonal transition when we must modify our diet, lifestyle and even our Yoga practice to adapt to the changes happening around us.
In this 2 hour workshop, Molly Culleton of Turiya Holistic Health will explore the general foundations of Ayurveda and its unique tri-dosha approach. We will then focus on diet and lifestyle routines specific for the fall/early winter season which will help us stay healthy and grounded through the holidays. The workshop will end with a make & take herbal-infused abhyanga (massage) oil to enrich our seasonal self-care routine. Handouts of class material will be provided. No prior knowledge of Ayurveda is necessary.
Molly will also be offering 20 minute consultations at Una Biologicals from 11 am - 2 pm before the class. This is a wonderful opportunity to understand how Ayurvedic principles can apply to your specific health before the workshop.
Mini Ayurvedic Consultation ~ Includes assessment of Ayurvedic mind-body archetype (Prakruti) and present condition (Vikruti), pulse and tongue examination, general recommendations for diet and lifestyle routines.
